Position Summary:
STC’s Business Line Manager (BLM) is part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), leading the Hermetics business line in Santa Ana, CA. The BLM is the critical link between customers and the company for specialty materials, components, metallization, and brazing. They have a strong focus on growth strategy, customer relationship building, operations excellence, new product development, and building markets and key applications to grow sales and profitability. The role will hold full P&L responsibility for the Hermetics business line. The BLM will drive profitable growth in concert with the objectives set forth by STC Leadership.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Strategy & Growth: Develop a clear and actionable strategic value creation plan with goals and objectives and hold teams accountable for the plan. This will include building and implementing a vision and a set of values for the business centered around achieving high-performance sustainable growth.
Team Management: Ensure the right people are in the right place in the business to deliver the results identified in the strategy. Develop an effective team-based culture that encourages stretch thinking to drive breakthrough results whilst promoting employee development.
Customer Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers (80’s), both existing and targeted, in the segment. Ensure that the segment team members maintain regular and appropriate cross-functional contact with key customers to identify, develop, and convert future business opportunities.
Operational Excellence: Manage business line critical operating model processes including Daily Management, Annual Operating Planning, Goal Deployment, Organizational Talent Cycle, Monthly Business Review, Strategic Planning, and Continuous Improvement.
Execution: Sets long and short-range goals, quotas, budgets and objectives for all functions within the business line. Establishes and maintains an appropriate cadence for managing business line progress against objectives. Works with finance to develop and establish a rolling 12-month forecasting process and tools to provide operations and business leadership with forward visibility of detailed demand forecast.
80/20: Drive the principles and use of the 80/20 tools through the market segment to provide the best return on invested resources and capital for the business line.
Comfortable with ambiguity
Own and improve all operational and financial metrics, including leading efforts to meet or exceed financial goals. Ensure key monthly and quarterly reports, new project/product plans, development schedules, marketing plans, and business and budget plans are delivered on time and accurately.
Direct the operations and engineering teams in understanding the business and operations competitive/market environment and developing the company’s product portfolio to capitalize on new and existing market opportunities.
Balance being an external, growth-focused leader with that of a strong internal manager, including time physically walking the floor and connecting with employees.
Recruit, develop, and retain a high caliber team.
Key Skills, Attributes, and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent job experience.
Success leading and growing a small to mid-size, high-margin, specialty business or the operations of a larger company, with strong working relationships with customers and sales, including materials joining, is preferred.
Decisive leadership, experience driving high performing teams. Proven ability to innovate product lines, manage process and operational improvements, and influence sales and marketing, all to build bottom-line growth.
Success growing profits in MTO business model (ability to lead and manage in a highly technical environment).
Diverse experience set, including hands-on operations and technical process know-how.
Understand and care about sophisticated technology and further develop its commercial use.
Self-motivated, with excellent organizational, planning, and presentation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including virtual business environments)
Job Requirements:
Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
Work is normally performed on-site at STC’s campus in Santa Ana, California. Office work is performed in a climate-controlled environment, but substantial time is required on the manufacturing shop floor, which can be noisy and dusty, and is not climate controlled in the summer season. Proper safety equipment is provided by STC where necessary.
Some travel, up to 20% domestic and international, may be required
Work may involve standing and walking for moderate to lengthy periods of time, with some duties performed from a seated position. The workplace requires the ability to walk up and down stairs between offices and production floor. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials and computer screen. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods, and changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. Work may include bending and squatting, as well as occasional lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 30 lbs.

Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $120,500.00 - $180,700.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
